Excellent accommodation with all facilities that you need for stress free break. Situated close to attractions and coastline, also perfect location for other areas of interest yet peaceful enough to relax. This was our third visit and still as good as the first. Thoroughly enjoyable. Stan
Bright and beautiful provided us with a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. Location was good for the beach, getting in to Ayr and loads of other places to visit. The local chippy was excellent and only 5 minutes away. The coop had most things that we needed. The dog loved the beach.

We absolutely loved our stay at Bright and Beautiful. The bungalow was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean. When we arrived we were delighted to find a fantastic complimentary afternoon tea, which was a very welcomed treat. There was everything you could need while on holiday. A real home from home! The beds were very comfortable and my son particularly enjoyed the whirlpool bath. The enclosed garden was tidy and large enough for our dog to explore and we enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine. We had fabulous weather every day!! Bright and Beautiful is in a fantastic location, within easy reach of Glasgow, Edinburgh and so many other wonderful places of interest! We would definitely recommend Bright and Beautiful to anyone seeking a stay in a lovely home from home in a peaceful, quiet neighbourhood.
Nice bungalow in a good location, bonus is the Sky TV package same as ours so it was easy to operate.
Bright and Beautiful was looking a bit tired and would definitely benefit from a good spring clean. Being in Scotland and not knowing what the weather would be like having Sky TV was a definite plus for us.
Lovely little bungalow, would stay again. The property is located in a quiet location at the far end of the culdesac. Good enclosed garden, great for children and pets. Dishwasher in the kitchen is only a table top size so doesn't fit many dishes.
This property is a comfortable, small home in a very quiet residential area of Ayr. It has enough parking for 23 cars and a fenced backyard which will be great for people with a dog or children. We certainly appreciated the tea tray provided with sandwiches, cakes, etc a very nice touch. We found the kitchen to be well equipped for meal preparation, though the potspans were rather old. The Living Room couches were comfortable and the room itself was huge. One additional floor lamp would be a good addition. The beds were generally good, though the mattress in the Master suite was too soft for my liking. The house was generally clean, particularly good in the bathrooms. We had no real complaints and I think for the price this was decent value. In my experience with rentals though, I would class this as fairly basic, functional, nofrills accommodation, but certainly adequate for most.
Wonderful place, clean and bright. facilities above expectations. We used the wifi easily which was a plus point for us. Kitchen well appointed. Plus easy parking for 2 cars.
We enjoyed our stay, and being so close to all the town's amenities made our stay even better. The cottage is situated in a lovely housing estate and is easy to find. Its enclosed garden was a huge bonus for our dog, who loved the freedom to roam without us worrying about her safety. Though a little tired and in need of freshened decor, the cottage was tastefully furnished and wellappointed with most things you could wish for however, a pair of scissors would have been handy. But perhaps we just did not see or find them. The tray of sandwiches, cake and scones with butter and jam on arrival was a very nice, thoughtful and appreciated touch after our journey. However, the constantly running cistern in the main bathroom was a little annoying, but it did not affect our stay. Stephen, the cleaner, was aware of the problem as he texted me at 6.44 am on Friday to ask if it was still running, and he would get a plumber out to look at it. If he was aware of the problem, why had a plumber not been called earlier? The beds in the cottage were very comfortable, and for the most part, the property was acceptably clean however, the bed in the master bedroom with the ensuite shower, once stripped of bedding, showed a very heavily soiled quilt and mattress with what looked like both urine, blood and other stains. The thin mattress protector had not saved it from soiling and was also heavily stained. While we realise quilts and mattresses cannot be changed between each booking, the extent of the soiling I felt in this instance did warrant replacing both. There was a mattress protector on the double bed in the second bedroom as well, which showed slight staining, but had done its job in keeping the bed cleaner. However, the use of moistureproof mattress protectors would alleviate this and be a costeffective measure to protect mattresses, which are expensive to replace. Baking trays in the kitchen cupboard had been used and replaced without having been washed, and were covered in grease. Again, I realise that with the time constraints between departing and arriving guests, it is difficult to always manage to clean the property fully, and on the surface, things looked good, but the property would benefit from a deeper, more thorough cleaning regularly. A couple of things which we discovered which may be useful after having stayed in the cottage were an overhead shower in the bathroom, as having just one shower in the ensuite is limiting, not everyone likes to take a bath. That said, the jacuzzi bath was super and something I appreciated, having lower back discomfort from driving. A table lamp, as well as the stylish floor lamp in the living room, would be good for reading. A hairdryer for the ladies would again have been a useful addition. As I am selfemployed and have to keep in constant touch with work, it was disappointing that the WiFi password in the welcome notes, which were comprehensive, had worn away on both the notes and the BT Router, which meant I could not get an internet connection and had to use my phone to piggy back the internet on my laptop, a small detail but for guests who need internet access an important detail. We very much enjoyed our stay in the cottage, its location in the town close to all amenities, and would have no hesitation in booking again.
Teresa
This place was so homely and had everything we needed. The garden is very secure, too. Everywhere was really clean and the beds were comfy.
Aileen
Lovely cottage couldn't ask for better. Spacious. Close to public transport and beach. Afternoon tea for us on arrival such nice thought.
Catherine
This was our third stay at Bright and Beautiful. Our stay was as enjoyable as the last two. Great location. Lovely accommodation with plenty of space. A large enclosed garden out back and plenty of parking on the front. Beach, golf and huge dog friendly parks all on the doorstep!! Whats not to love.
Lovely property and everything you need. Could do with scissors for the kitchen. Bath sheets instead of bath towels as we are all not skinny. Otherwise was lovely and everything we needed and had a lovely peaceful holiday
Nadine
Lovely welcoming bungalow with a private secure garden. Plenty of room, dog friendl, in a quiet area and would definitely go back.
Patricia
Been to the cottage before and loved the position so near beach for the dog. Lovely and clean and afternoon tea is a real bonus after travelling for hours. Having Sky tv is also a plus for us . Would def recomend Bright and Beautiful . Great value for money .
A beautiful property with a genuinely safe and enclosed garden for the dogs. Very comfortable.
Carole
I enjoyed my stay and the sandwich, scones cake tray on arrival. The bungalow is modern clean and comfortable with everything that I needed, easy parking and enclosed garden for my dog and lovely coastal walks near by.
The bungalow was fabulous. Spotlessly clean. Extremely comfortable. The only fault was that the hot water boiler couldnt supply enough water to try out the fabulous spa bath. Apart from that very minor disappointment it was perfect. We will definitely be back and my brother is already planning to book. Thank you it was brilliant.
Graeme
This was our second visit to the property and we enjoyed the first so much we booked again and had a future booking. Property was tired in some aspects. Holes in walls caused by the blinds, no blind on front door so no privacy and electric fire surround detaching from wall. The worst part however was the cleanliness, food waste on hob from previous visitors , wrong kind of hairs on bathroom floor obviously not even hoovered ,dust covered cobwebs main bedroom and unpleasant aromas in living room. The worst however was a artificial flower arrangement infested with black mould in bedroom. Criticized heavily by Sykesowner for cleaning it up ourselves. Our future booking was cancelled based on this visit at substantial cost to ourselves as Sykes refused to refund. Holiday was not enjoyed at all.
Inadequate dishwasher .
Kimberley
So well equipped and spacious comfortable and in a perfect location. Hosts even left us a marvellous afternoon tea. Comfy bed and great shower and spa bath. Great for family and dog
Lovely house. It was well equipped, nicely furnished and very comfortable. Its location was very good with easy access to the beach. The house and location was very dog friendly.
Nicola
Wonderful location. Very comfortable throughout with very good facilities. Excellent garden for our 2 puppies. Phoned the owner about a minor problem who was helpful and very nice. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely clean, bright and comfortable bungalow in a lovely quiet safe neighbourhood. It had everything we wanted and more, a tea of sandwiches, cake, milk, tea and coffee was kindly left for us along with all the things you would need washing up liquid, kitchen roll, toilet rolls etc. Dog friendly and an easy 10 minute walk to the beach or 20 minutes into Ayr, would highly recommend and will return ourselves in the future.
Jackie
Beautiful house in great location. I would happily live here! Just wee short drive from lots to do, lovely restaurants and shops. Its very clean and well looked after. Nice wee afternoon tea in fridge on arrival which was much appreciated
A lovely house in a quiet location. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a spacious and comfortable sitting room. We enjoyed the jacuzzi bath. My only suggestion for improvement would be some curtains in the bedrooms as the blinds occlude the early morning light.
The property was a lovely well kept clean place could not fault it. it was a lovely surprise to find out the owners had left us afternoon tea of cake and biscuits. everything you needed for a stay was provided. lovely place to stay Ayr lots to see and places to visit. well worth a booking.
Robert
Back garden was a little overgrown on the slope. It was difficult to keep track of the dogs when they went onto the slope
Really enjoyable stay in a well equipped cottage. Lovely secure garden for the dogs too Definitely recommend
Amazing cottage, lots of cosy inside space, fabulous enclosed garden, very clean, lots of linen and towels provided, kitchen facilities were everything you could ever need, location perfect with bus stop to Ayr 10 mins away. I particularly loved the jacuzzi bath, tray of delicious treats left in the fridge to welcome us.
Ashleigh
Loved staying and will be booking again for next year.
Sylvia
My second time staying here and I just love it. What a lovely property lives up to its name of Bright and Beautiful
This really was home from home, one of the best we have stayed in. Everything you needed was on hand and the accommodation was warm, clean and very modern. Upon arrival there was a note left apologising for the shop being closed and unable to provide afternoon tea but treats and milk had been left in the fridge and tea and coffee in the cupboard. The host had thought of everything right down to washing up liquid, all you needed to take was your weekly shop. We all enjoyed our stay and our three dogs loved their walks to the beach which was only 10 minutes away. Doonfoot is such a lovely place, so quiet considering there are quite a few properties and we know if we are in the area again we'll book Bright and Beautiful again. Thank you so much for letting us stay in your lovely home.
A super cottage in a perfect location, with everything you need for a perfect holiday. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage and will return again for another visit. Thank you!
Really pleased with everything about the house. Clean and comfortable with everything you'd need and a perfect enclosed garden for our little dog. Easy walk down to the beach too and also to the coop shop. For 5 adults, a shower over the bath would have been useful, but overall we had a perfect stay.
This property is certainly Bright and Beautiful , We all had a great week in a perfect house! Tilly our Jack Russell loved it too! And the fish and chip shop was special too as it was so close and made lovely different flavours of Italian ice cream!!! So a perfect holiday in Ayrshire, pity we couldnt have taken the Beautiful house home with us! Thanks!
