Brunston Castle Lodge Reviews

We were delighted by the lodge, it was comfortable and surprisingly big. The kitchen was full of equipment which was great, the beds were comfortable and had plenty of pillows. The heating was much appreciated and made the rooms so warm during the evenings. The position of the lodge was another bonus as we were amazed how quiet it was and how lovely it was to see the wildlife around the lodges. Overall, we would definitely recommend your lodge, it was like a home from home and we hope to book again next year.
This was the first time we used this particular lodge. However, we are very familiar with the resort, having visited for the better part of a decade. The lodges are always enjoyable, but this one seemed a little better provisioned in terms of kitchen equipment. Also, the placement of the lodge made it seem even brighter and airier than others.
When we arrived the place was freezing, no heating on and I had two young kids with me who were frozen. Other than that the property was as described, had everything we needed and beds were very comfy. Unfortunately we only stayed for 4 nights out of the planned 7 nights as the facilities were terrible swimming pool was dirty, floor was cracked in changing rooms right through to pool, visibly dirty everywhere. Had a 1 year old baby with me and a 7 year old, I felt this was unacceptable.

To Landal Brunston, warm welcome, great communication throughout our week stay. Swimming pool and activities were brilliant. Location was perfect. However, poor signage around the resort especially to our accommodation on our first visit. The road is poorly maintained. No recycling facilities everything went in one bin. Reception and facilities were shut for two days Wednesday and Thursday. To the owner of Brunston 28. Clean and tidy accommodation with essential products provided. However, one of the wardrobes had a large amount of 'spare' carpet which took up space for our things. The ironing board cover needs replacing. To Sykes Holiday Cottages, I booked a 3bedroom lodge in the hope that the 6 adults and 2 infants age 1 & 3 could stay together. The site rules prevented this so one party couldn't come. I was not offered a larger lodge.
We had a wonderful holiday here. The lodge is beautiful. Its well maintained and had everything we needed. The beds were super comfy. The ensuite on the main bedroom was a bonus when sharing the lodge with 3 kids. Its in a very peaceful and relaxing location. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. The pool onsite was great, and we generally had it to ourselves. The staff are very helpful, even to the point of us needing a new multi usb charger that we had delivered to the front desk from Amazon and they gave us a quick text to say it there. Definitely recommend.
Brunstan Castle Lodge is an ideal place to stay just outside Girvan. The Lodge itself is well maintained, clean and very comfortable. Excellent beds and plenty of towels. The kitchen space is very good and there is a power shower. The decked area is great when there is sunshine. There is a small swimming pool on site, with a coffee bar. It is extremely quiet and an ideal spot for exploring Ayrshire. We were walking the coastal path, the public transport, bus and trains are excellent. Would stay again.

Very clean and wellequippedmaintained lodge and site. Lovely swimming pool, but could only swim from 9 till 6. Bar area only opened from 9am till 7pm not a great choice of food . No 9 hole golf course, only a very small putting green . Great place for visiting the local area .
Rosemary
This is very well equipped and comfortable accommodation. The electric heating works well and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of the site.

We had a great stay, me and my 3 friends came for a relaxing get away for my chilled out hen doo, it was bliss. Owners were great with all the information provided. I would say a little more sign posts for each cabin would make it a little easier to find however cabins were spotless, spacious well looked after, the park was well looked after. On the Tuesday we received a message to let uz know the fish and chip van came round with alot of information provided. Girvan is a short drive away. Many thanks for a great stay. 1010 for our experience
Lodge 28. Clean , warm, comfortable. Good kitchen facilities and washing machine and dishwasher very useful. Although sleeps 6 it only had comfy chairs for 4. No heating in en suite bathroom which consequently was very cold. Additionally. the toilet cistern was flushing non stop when we arrived and often during the night. a sticking fill mechanism? but seems to behave itself halfway through our week. Secondary bathroom over bath shower only consisted of a hair wash wand and not an overhead shower. Also its mounting bracket was coming away from the wall. The over sink light worked intermittently. And the outside door light didn't always switch on. I noted these observations to reception for the benefit of advising the owner and to the credit of the site and as a courtesy to the owners they despatched a maintenance guy next morning and he reattached the hair wand bracket, removed sink light diffuser and jiggled the fluorescent tube. Access road surfaces rather rough and bumpy although this does have a speed calming effect for vehicles. Overall. a comfortable property in which we enjoyed our week
The lodge was lovely, very well stocked kitchen. Good heating where needed. The resort was very quiet, scenery lovely, nice walks. The roads around the complex were terrible. The pool was great and reception area was lovely.
Louise
The lodge was lovely and homely, large well equipped kitchen. The dishwasher and washerdryer were a bonus. The staff we met at the leisure centre were all super friendly, we got a text to say a fish and chip van was visiting which was a lovely surprise! The swimming pool, table tennis and pool table helped while away a very wet day. It was a comfortable and quiet place to come back to after a long day out and about. Great base to explore local area. We hope to come back.
Tired paintwork some of the heaters did not work and the furniture needs up grading to ! No welcome pack to speak of and as for the roads around the property they were something akin to the moons surface bad condition is putting it lightly. It is a shame it has come to this as the site and lodge could be made really nice with a bit of thought and some money spending.Would we go back ? No.
Christine
Had a lovely time. Cottage was spotless and well equipped. The pool and games room was fantastic for our boys.
One of the main reasons for choosing this site was the availability of a pool and sauna, which was not available through our two night stay. We were advised by reception after we had arrived that they had broken down and needed a part and would not be available until further notice. It was disappointing that no phone call or advance notification given as this would have definitely contributed as to whether we would continue with the stay at that location however I had specifically enquired about the availability at date of stay before booking. We were there celebrating a friends 60th birthday. This is something that can't be done again there are no reruns and the unavailability if these facilities did Marr the occasion plus we would gave paid as part of the overall cost to be able to use these I have already raised our disappointment and have been assigned a case number but not heard anything since again another disappointment.
We have stayed at Brunston before and its a lovely location. The lodge we had was very clean and had everything we needed. The cafe on site is a great place for a coffee with very friendly reception staff and wasnt busy at all. Lots of places to visit around the area, Robert Burns museum , Culzean Castle well worth a look. Isle of Arran is lovely but watch the weather, we got stuck there for 3 days !! Would def recommend and the price for the lodge for 7 days was a bargain.
Loved the lodge, the setting and the facilities on site. Would be happy to return in future.
We found everything in the lodge as described. We were informed by Sykes that the arrival time was 3pm but on arrival at 3.10pm we were told by the staff at Brunston that the arrival time was actually 4pm. We had to wait until 3.45pm when we were told we could go in. This needs sorting. The roads in the Brunston Castle lodges are in a terrible state and had to drive through very carefully and slowly to avoid causing damage to our car. Apart from that and the poor weather we enjoyed our stay at the lodge.
Beautiful site and bungalow only problem was oven door had inner glass missing resulting in door not staying which was very dangerous and result in severe burns. Minor problem TV has a possible fault kept shutting down saying no aerial connection. The road around the site and approach are full of potholes and bumpy. Would recommend visitors need a 4x4!!!! Overall very pleased with our stay would come back.
The accommodation and location are excellent. The lodge was clean and ideal for what we needed. The facilities were great. The only point that should be mentioned is kids cant access the gym and sauna and have to be supervised in the pool. My teenagers were disappointed at this but I would definitely recommend this location and would go back. Its close to lovely beaches and towns plus sites to visit. Its also perfect for golf lovers. Overall a great holiday experience.
Enjoyable stay, on a pleasant resort. It's a prefab chalet rather than a cottage and the listing could perhaps make this clearer. Property itself is a bit dated and bathroomfurnishings etc are tired but was clean and comfortable. Poolgym opening times were a bit limited for us last entry at 7pm and no solo swimming which meant we couldn't take it in turns to use the facilities in the evening as planned. Quiet area but plenty to do within 2030 minute drive car essential.
Everything was as advertised & excellent. It suited our purpose exactly for our golf visit. Only a couple of negatives. The main bathroom only had a handheld shower which was not suitable for a proper shower, we had to all use the on suite. Also we had two cars & although the site was quiet they told us it was a private cottage & their site policy was one per cottage.
Barbara
Very peaceful as out of season. Only bird song to be heard. Great location for exploring the Ayrshire coast. Accommodation clean and comfortable although only basic utensils in the kitchen. Enjoyed the pool which we had to ourselves on practically all occasions. Reception staff very nice and local people were very friendly
William
Generally the lodge was as described a beautiful lodge in a very good setting ... Generally the lodge was as described a beautiful lodge in a very good setting The minor criticism are the sofas and armchairs have seen better days and arm rests are well worn The coffee table no matter how you try to clean it never looks good There is some mildew on the ceiling of the bathroom Overall the property was more than acceptable I would definitely book again
Amanda
We really enjoyed our relaxing Easter break at Brunston Castle Lodge. The site was quiet & the lodge itself was very comfortable, well equipped & spacious. We loved having the swimming pool & sauna, games room & gym on site. It was a great location for exploring the area lovely local walks & trips to the coast, Culzean Castle, Alloway & Turnberry. Well definitely book again!
Been twice will be back again great holiday.
Sharon
This was the best holiday, we had our own private home and it was exactly as described on the advert. The entire home was clean and had everything we needed to experience a gone away from home. I must admit on the drive we were beginning to worry as all we saw were farms and hills no sign of activities but trust me once we got there there was so much to do. We even went to the beach which is only 7min drive unbelievably as all you see is hills. We surely would like to come back again and highly recommended it. My mum felt special as she celebrated her birthday there.
Lovely and clean accommodation with everything you could possibly need. Also nice and quiet.
Richard
We had a great holiday again , 3rd time in this property ! lovely quiet clean and well maintained site with a great swimming pool . Staff are very helpful and the area has plenty to offer only a short drive away. Hope to be back again soon.
The property was lovely as was the late afternoon evening staff at the leisure centre reception. The day time staff however made us feel really unwelcome, even my kids was taken back by the way the day time staff treated us. We visit Brunston Castle resort with the intention to look for a place we could easily escape to as a family on a regular occasion and if the opportunity presented itself, maybe even invest there. However after this weekend we wont go back there due to the way we were made to feel unwelcome. The surface around the pool has just been repainted and I would advise people to be very careful as it is very slippery.
Lovely lodge, very clean but hot water tank limits multi use and kitchen sink tap was faulty. Nothing a little maintenance wouldn't sort.
Carole
The lodge was clean and comfortable. The site was very quiet, but just what we wanted. We had no trouble booking the gym or the pool for when we wanted, and Mr Chippy, the chip van, was an added surprise bonus!
The accommodation was exactly as shown in the pictures, spotlessly clean, very comfortable beds, kitchen was very well equipped including a nespresso coffee machine! and the local supermarkets do onsite deliveries too
Mrs Myra
Everything. Idyllic setting everything for our comfort. Well equipped kitchen. Hope we can go again soon.
Outside of the unit was dirty facia and patio area shower tiles grout dirty
We really enjoyed our stay at Brunston Castle, the lodge was very well equipped and very comfortable to stay in. As our stay was just a few days after the lockdown on this type of holiday was lifted, this did not deter from our enjoyment, some facilities where not open but again this did not bother us. Would view listings from Sykes Cottages again.
This cottage was by far the worst I have stayed in and I as really disappointed in the standard and cleanliness of this lodge. I contacted Sykes and informed them of my problems and my concerns and also asked them not to get the owner to ring me as I did not want a confrontation with the owner whilst I was on holiday, guess what this request was ignored. The subsequent conversation with the owner was pretty much what I was expecting he could not understand that there could be any issues as he loved going on holiday there and he could see no problems with his property. The problems were dirty and stained carpets, he know about this and they were in the process of getting them replaced!!!!, dirty windows and a deck area that was slippy and needed pressure washing. no remote for tv the owner told me to contact receptionist they might have one !!!!. The lodge photographs well but in reality it is in the centre of the complex and gets very little sun doe to trees and its orientation. This lodge had a similar complaint earlier in the year but I was assured by Sykes that the issues had been taken care of this was not the case. I was contacted by Sykes and given 50,00 compensation this was very little considering myself and my friends had spent a week of our time and the cost of the lodge in a very disappointing and dare I say grubby accommodation.
Katrina
When we arrived the lodge was nothing like pictures in website. All carpets where marked and dirty, not a single window was clean and the balcony was covered with spider webs. Really put us off a bit, the site is lovely but feel we wasted our money as picture are totally deceiving and we spent most out week out with the lodge.
